Debbie is a professional painter, printmaker and tutor, specialising in expressionistic paintings, drawings and commissions, in acrylic paint and pen & watercolour of favourite houses and gardens, people and animals.

After studying art  in her teens with esteemed oil painter and teacher Carlo Sdoya in Johannesburg, Debbie achieved a 3 Year National Diploma Fine Art and 1 year Graphic Design at ‘Technikon Natal’,  in the 90’s.

While studying and after graduating, helped run the ‘Imperial Framers and Gallery’ in Durban as well as took on commissions such as people and animal portraits and other commissions such as landscape paintings for corporate offices and estate agents.

Debbie received ‘Best Up and Coming Artist Award’ presented by well known broadcaster and  Editor of Artsmart Magazine in Durban, ‘Caroline Smart’.

Tutoring of adults in painting and drawing at beginner to advanced level at her home studio, Sevenoaks for last 16+ years.

Debbie sees art as relaxing, stress relieving and sociable. Debbie also  gave private art lessons Durban, South Africa.

Mediums range from drawing in pencil, charcoal and pastel to painting in oils and water based mediums such as watercolour and acrylics.

Debbie has taken illustration workshops and attended the  Hesketh Hubbard life drawing classes at the Mall galleries in London.

Also an active selling member of the Sevenoaks Art club.

Participated in ‘Sky Artist  of the week’ online during this past year 2020/21.

During this last year 2020- 2021 Debbie also revived her interest in printmaking especially dry point etching.

Debbie is part of the ‘Artist Support Pledge’ and also produced portraits for  ‘Portraits for NHS Heroes’.

Supports local charities West Kent mind etc. with donated auction art works.

In her galleries are numerous examples of commissions she can make as well as paintings, cards and other items like throw pillows that are for sale. Prices on request.
